Korean News

Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Un, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, received a congratulatory message from V. Putin, president of the Russian Federation, on August 12.

The message said:

I extend sincere congratulations to you on the occasion of the day of liberation, the national holiday of the Korean people.

We remember in humble reverence the patriots of Korea and Soviet soldiers who fought shoulder to shoulder for the independence of your country.

The tradition of friendship and cooperation provided in the annals of the grim war still serves as a foundation for successfully developing the relations between Russia and the DPRK.

I am sure that the bilateral ties of partnership including large-scale economic and infrastructure projects on the Korean peninsula will continue expanding thanks to our common efforts.

This is in line with the basic interests of our two peoples and will contribute to ensuring the peace and stability in Northeast Asia.

I wish you good health and success and all the people of the DPRK happiness and wellbeing.

Please accept my tribute to you.
