(Borkena) Abebe Gelaw, Ethiopian journalist living in the United States, heckled president Barack Obama while speaking at a fundraiser event in San Jose, California.
Abebe was protesting US’ support to the tyrannical regime in Ethiopia. Mr. Obama was promising Abebe Gelaw that he will talk to him at the end of the event.
US is one of the major donors to the dictatorial regime in Addis Ababa – a regime which takes acts of freedom of expression as “terrorism.” Many journalists and people with dissenting voices are languishing in prison. Recently, six independent bloggers group of Zone9 and journalists are thrown to jail for blogging.
In 2012, Abebe Gelaw screamed Meles Zenawi when he was speaking in a symposium in Washington DC. Meles Zenawi was totally shocked and he didn’t live long after the incident.
