Perseverance sounds like the breed of Stoicism. Japan,in its own right,lived Stoicism a number of times and at different historical periods. Whether it is natural or man made disaster ,Japan behaved stoic. From imperialist aggression in the 19th century to the major war in the 20th century and to the recurring devastating earthquakes were not strong enough to shake social psychology of Japan. Yet, despite significantly high suicide rate at a world scale, Japanese as people do have a high measure of perseverance. Japan never give in to disaster. Invincible social psychology is great asset to a nation.
