Ghana : Gov’t to create skills bank in the diaspora

(ghanaweb)In its bid to fast track the country’s socio-economic growth, government has hinted of creating a skills bank in the diaspora.

The initiative is to tap into the experience and expertise of Ghanaian professionals abroad to help accelerate the development of the country.

46397573.295Speaking to Gold News after a two day African Union summit in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur said the creation of the skills bank will help Ghana develop the programmes and projects necessary for economic development.

On her part, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hannah Serwah Tetteh, said Ghana has established a formal cooperation mechanism with Ethiopia and other African countries for shared growth.

She also revealed that Ghana and Ethiopia have agreed to share technical know-how in the area of hydroelectricity to help improve the country’s power supply for both domestic and commercial purposes.

Madam Hanna Tetteh indicated her ministry’s resolve to build bridges with other African countries for mutual benefits.
