Single East African Passport to be operational

A single East African passport is expected to be functional in 2015. President Yoweri Museveni, President Paul Kagame, President Uhuru Kenyatta, President Jakaya Kikwete and President Pierre Nkurnziza are said to have agreed to launch a single passport which ,apparently,is going to be valid document within the member countries, SA news reported.
Apparently, the agreement was made during the Heads of State Summit in Uganda’s capital, Kampala. Communiqué from the Summit was made available in Kampala through Arusha based East African Community (EAC), the source added.
As well, the presidents from five East African States (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Brundi) reached an agreement on a single currency. Currency is anticipated to be in circulation in 2023 and will be good within jurisdictions of signatories to the monetary agreement.
